Job Title: Preschool Director

Pay: $18/hr. to $21/hr.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Director to join our preschool family.


Basic Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct, manage, and supervise programs for ages 6 weeks - 12 years of age. This position requires strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills along with a warm and nurturing disposition. Must be able to work positively within a parent-participation school environment and promote an atmosphere of community and cooperation among all interested parties. 

Maintain, develop or modify the curriculum to meet the needs of children enrolled in the Preschool and remain current with developments in the field. Develop long-term plans to facilitate the growth of the Preschool. In conjunction with the owner, define policies of admission, attendance, tuition, and educational goals and establish all other necessary policies, procedures, or rules pertaining to the operation of the Preschool (consistent with the Employee Handbook.) 

Supervision as it relates to Core Values:

    • Facilitate team-building, appreciation events, and moments of celebration to support retention and morale.

  • Instruction:  Ensure education is meaningful and reflect Q&A’s commitment to literacy, math, and SEL.

    • Observe classrooms regularly to provide meaningful coaching, feedback, and instructional support.

    • Ensure all staff are implementing curriculum with fidelity and aligned to Q&A’s academic and social-emotional focus.

    • Host regular planning or training meetings to strengthen teaching practices and prepare for assessments or observations.

  • Quality: Maintain high standards in classroom environments, health/safety practices, and learning materials.

    • Hold staff accountable to classroom standards, safety practices, and licensing compliance.

    • Monitor ratios, lesson plans, portfolios, and documentation for consistency and excellence.

    • Support onboarding and professional development to maintain high-quality instructional practices.

    • Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs and provide real-time feedback.

  • Commitment: Lead by example in professionalism, dependability, and mission alignment.

    • Be present and available to guide staff through challenges with consistency and care.

    • Provide mentorship and performance evaluations that help staff grow long-term within Q&A.

    • Uphold the mission of Q&A by leading with integrity and inspiring staff to meet program goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Scheduling: Coordinate and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and smooth program operations.

  • Activity Planning: Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate afterschool activities that align with our focus on literacy and socio-emotional growth.

  • Meal Coordination: Oversee the preparation and serving of nutritious snacks and dinners, adhering to health and safety standards.

  • Classroom Support: Provide assistance in classrooms as needed, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for both staff and students.

  • Field Trips: Manage and coordinate the safe and timely pickup of students from school, ensuring accurate attendance and communication with families.

  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring all activities and procedures comply with licensing standards and Q&A Preschools' policies.

  • Family Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with families, addressing any concerns and providing regular updates on their child's progress and activities.

  • Job Qualifications include:

    • A day-care administrator’s credential issued by a professional organization or educational institution and approved by Licensing based on criteria specified in Subchapter P of Chapter 745 and at least two years of experience in a licensed child- care center or…

    •  An associate of applied science degree in child development or a closely related field with six college credit hours in child development and six college credit hours in management. A “closely related field” is any educational instruction pertaining to the growth, development, physical or mental care, or education of children ages birth through 13 years and at least two years of experience in a licensed child- care center; or

    • A bachelor degree with 12 college credit hours in child development and six college credit hours in management and at least one year of experience in a licensed child-care center

    • At least 2 years experience in leadership role in a licensed childcare or early education setting

    • Familiarity with Texas Childcare Minimum Standards and licensing expectations;Must pass all background checks and meet DFPS licensing requirements
